Attention! Something is not right with MUMMY(mother) EARTH!
Earth is the only place in the universe where life is known to exist. Being the third planet from the sun, sometimes referred to as the WORLD or the BLUE PLANET, our dearest mother earth is facing its critical condition which is GLOBAL WARMING!
Hands to reach out, eyes to observe, ears to hear cries, and loyal hearts are needed to complete a pledge, a pledge no one else can fulfill except for all the PEOPLE OF EARTH!
Therefore, I, Eunice Edna Solomon, a resident from planet Earth, take this pledge of honour, in order to help cure and reduce the "pain" my Mother Earth is facing with. I would like to start this pledge by reflecting on my daily routines and the effects of some of my activities towards Mother Earth.
-I pledge to cut down the usage of paper for I know that by doing so I am actually helping in reducing the number of trees being cut down and therefore our earth will have more trees to help regulate its global temperature.
-I pledge to choose the best way to dispose my trash and not to simply throw or litter them around for I know that by practising this, I am directly helping to stop all types of pollution from occurring.
-I pledge to switch off all lights and other forms of electrical appliances when not used to conserve electricity.
-I pledge to reduce the usage of plastic bags. Instead, I shall apply the usage of GREEN bags or reusable bags in my daily life.
-I pledge to remind myself that everyday should be Earth Day, to treat Mother Earth special every day!
-I pledge to practice the 3 simple R's, REDUCE, REUSE, & RECYCLE to make sure that sources are enough for everything and that no extra sources are wasted.
-I pledge to ensure that I have plants around the area I am living at so that there will be clean air surrounding my area.
-I pledge to fully support and participate in all types of awareness and environmental programmes conduct by any organisation to show my gratitude towards Mother Earth and to let others see that a big change can be done with an addition of another individual.
As a closure, I would be glad to have another partner to stand together with me, reciting this pledge to declare and tell the other fellow humans that we belong to this earth. Think about it, "If it is not you, then who?"
